2 layer system in 1 day
Installing feed alley coating
Feed alley coatings have become an essential part of modern farms. These coatings offer a wide range of benefits to the feed alley, where cattle are fed daily. From improved hygiene to increased efficiency, feed alley coatings have a positive impact on overall operations. Some of the key benefits of these coatings are outlined below.
First, feed alley coatings offer improved hygienic conditions. The use of special coatings prevents bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms from adhering to the surface. This reduces the risk of disease and infection in livestock, promoting animal health and welfare. In addition, the smooth and easy-to-clean surface of the coating facilitates the cleaning process, resulting in higher levels of hygiene and lower maintenance costs.
Another advantage of feed alley coatings is their increased durability and abrasion resistance. The coatings are designed to withstand the heavy use of vehicles, carts and feed wagons that travel along the feed alley on a daily basis. They are resistant to scratches, impact and chemicals that can occur in feed or cleaning products. This extends the life of the feed alley, reduces the need for frequent repairs and minimizes the risk of slips and falls.
Finally, feed alley coatings offer an aesthetic advantage. They are available in a variety of colors and finishes, allowing farms to improve the appearance of their facilities. An attractive feed alley can make a positive impression on customers, visitors and investors, and can contribute to the company's image.

Feed alley coating Vriezeveen
In Vriezeveen, Farmcoat was recently applied to a new feed alley. After an on-site visit by our technical advisor, we were able to provide an appropriate recommendation suitable for this surface. Because the feed alley was not yet worn in, we were able to recommend a thin chemically resistant and mechanically resistant coat. Because the substrate consisted of floated concrete, we recommended sanding the concrete layer first. Then the primer and gray coating was applied in 1 day. The farmer could easily handle all this himself. To maintain a tight finish, the feed alley was first neatly marked out with tape.

How long does it take to apply a feed corridor coating?
Farmcoat is a two-layer floor coating consisting of a primer and a coating. 4 hours after applying the primer, the coating can be applied. So you can be finished coating within 1 day. However, keep in mind that you should already clean the feeding alley well the day before so that it can dry properly before you start coating. After applying the coating, it must dry/harden for 12 hours. So keep in mind that you cannot use the feed alley for at least a day and a half.
What colors is the coating available in?
Our coatings are offered as standard transparent or in RAL 7001 (gray). On request and starting from a minimum total order of 50 kilos, you can choose any RAL or NCS color.
Does the coating contain anti-slip?
The coating provides a non-slip yet smooth finish. If you need an extra anti-slip, or even a very coarse anti-slip (walking surface of cattle) we can offer this on a custom basis.
How thick is the coating to apply?
The feed alley coating can be applied in very thick layers. Assume up to 2 kilos per square meter. For very worn substrates, it has a leveling effect.
Is it easy to apply yourself?
Farmcoat has been developed in such a way that it is still easy to apply by laymen/inexperienced people. With every order we supply as standard a detailed manual which clearly describes in steps how to apply the coating.
