What does an epoxy floor coating do for your feed alley, barn floor or feed kitchen?

Applying a floor coating to an agricultural substrate has become more common in recent years. Agricultural substrates are often concrete and become porous and rough over time. A floor coating protects alkaline (cementitious and concrete) substrates.

1. Wear-resistant and mechanically loadable

A floor coating is epoxy-based. Once cured, the epoxy compounds are rock solid and wear resistant. This means that you can easily go over it with large equipment such as an iron bucket without damaging the floor significantly. Should you drop something heavy, you won't immediately have a dent in the floor. The floor is also resistant to high pressure.

2. Chemical resistant

The epoxy compounds in our coating also provide high chemical resistance. This is a great advantage for floors in milk pits, tank rooms and, of course, on feed passages. Chemicals, acidic liquids and saliva eat into the concrete and cause the top layer to wear. On feed passages, this particularly causes you to be left with a rough surface, and this no longer slides finely. You yourself have the chance that a hard cake layer of feed residue can form, which is a source for bacteria.

The hard and seamless surface of the epoxy floor coating also prevents dirt or grime from soaking in. This makes the surface easy to clean with high pressure.

How long does an epoxy floor coating last?

Provided the floor coating is applied correctly and according to the advice, our floor coating has a minimum lifespan of 10-15 years. Should damage occur during this time, it can easily be repaired with a repair kit.

What colors is the coating available in?

Our coatings are offered as standard transparent or in RAL 7001 (gray). On request and starting from a minimum total order of 30 kilos, you can choose any RAL color.

Does the coating contain anti-slip?

The coating provides a non-slip yet smooth finish. If you need an extra anti-slip, or even a very coarse anti-slip (walking surface of cattle) we can offer this on a custom basis.

How thick is the coating to apply?

The feed alley coating can be applied in very thick layers. Assume up to 4 pounds per square meter. This corresponds to 2.5mm layer thickness. For very worn substrates, it has a leveling effect.

Is it easy to apply yourself?

Farmcoat has been developed in such a way that it is still easy to apply by laymen/inexperienced people. With every order we supply as standard a detailed manual which clearly describes in steps how to apply the coating.
